Movie Review
At the first study period on last Tuesday, I went to the Dasan Auditorium to watch a movie "The Princess Bride". The genre was mixture of romantic comedy, fairy tale and adventure. The main characters were Buttercup, Westley and Prince Humperdink. Let me introduce thins movie to you.
The movie starts with a grand father telling a story titled "The Princess Bride" to his grandson. Once upon a time, there was a girl named Buttercup and a farm boy named Westley. They loved each other and had happy time together. However, Westley had to leave because he had to go on a shop. Before Westley left, he and Buttercup made the promise of "True Love". It was about not betraying their love by not giving one's love to others and wait until they meet again and love again. Several years past, and Buttercup heard that Westley had died. She was in a great despair, and she became the bride to Prince Humperdink.
When Buttercup was riding a horse to look around the forest, three men (Indigo, Fezzik and Vizzini) suddenly appeared and kidnapped her. They were sailing in the Fire Swamp to get to their destination, and Buttercup tried to escape by swimming. She successed on escaping but then, the Shrieking Eels surrounded Buttercup. She was rescued by Fezzik, the giant, who was one of the kidnappers and she failed to escape. While the kidnappers and Buttercup were sailing on the Fire Swamp, they saw a mysterious shop following them. They first thought that it was a fishing shop. So they ignored the shop and kept on sailing and sailing, and finally, they reached to the Cliff of Insanity. A man in black followed them, and rescued Buttercup. The man in black turned out to be Westley. But Buttercup had to go with Prince Humperdink again. Westley made a promise that he will come back and rescue her before the marriage.
However, Westly got harmed by Prince Humperdink's person(Count Rugen). Prince Humperdink wanted to kill Buttercup so he can make a reason to have a war between his country and other country. As a result, he played a game with Buttercup. Buttercup said that if Westley comes before the marriage, she will go with him, and if not, she'll commit suicide. However, Westley was dead by Prince Humperdink. Guess what happened? Indigo and Fezzik came to rescue Westley and got him alive. All three of them headed toward the kingdom, where marriage had begun. Indigo killed Count Rugen, who had killed his father and Westley rescued Buttercup. They all ran away from the kingdom and lived happily ever after.
I think the lesson of this movie is; true love goes above anything else. By Westley and Buttercup, we could see true love can do everything. Westley was alive, Buttercup almost had committed suicide.
I think the character who showed leadership inside this movie is Indigo. He was first a bad man, one of three kidnappers, but he became a good man. What I mean by this is that Westley couldn't have been alive if Indigo didn't determined himself to find Westley. He's the one who persuaded Fezzik to find Westely. He's the one who made Westley alive.
In conclusion, I think this movie was pretty good to watch. It's quite old, but still, fun. Maybe I should go and watch this movie again.
